Frontend Replacement for Wordpress
Version: 2.0
License: GPL
Author: Erik Pöhler
Description:
Lightpress replaces the inperformant Wordpress-Frontend with its own. The replacement (either in testing or takeover-mode) is achieved with mod_rewriting requests into the Lightpress subfolder.
Lightpress brings its own Plugins (around 60) and its own Themes - all to take advantage of its faster Database-Queries. (eg: Tagging, valid Feeds for Categories and Searches, Flickr, etc.) Themes and Plugins offer a simple Template-Tag Syntax and there is no need to do any PHP work within Themes. This keeps Template-Files clean (and fast).
Replacing the Frontend doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to use Wordpress any more - just the Frontend is replaced. You will still be able to use all plugins that doesn’t manipulate a posts output.
Developers are: Jerome Lavigne (vapourtrails.ca)
and Ludovico Magnocavallo (qix.it)
On Lightpress.org you’ll find a Blog, Wiki, SVN and a Forum providing you with more infos.
